<p>PORTLAND, Ore. – May 10, 2012 – <a href="http://www.techamerica.org/oregon">TechAmerica Oregon</a> announced its 2012 Oregon Technology Award winners in a ceremony held last night at the Portland Art Museum. The winners represent the year’s top Oregon and Southwest Washington-area technology companies in five categories:  Rising Star, System/Hardware, Software, Technology-Service, and Cool Product.</p>
<p>“With so many outstanding applications, the selection committee had a difficult job selecting just one winner for each category and for the first time ever we had a tie.” said Kari Naone, TechAmerica’s Interim Regional Vice President for Oregon. “We’re thankful not only for the quality of technology companies here in Portland, but for the assistance of our selection committees, volunteers and sponsors who helped to make this historic tech-community event possible.”</p>
<p>The annual Oregon Technology Awards program, now in its fourth year managed by <a href="http://www.techamerica.org/oregon">TechAmerica Oregon,</a> celebrates excellence and achievement in the region’s technology industry. This year’s celebratory event provided sponsors and attendees an opportunity to invest in Oregon’s future innovators with proceeds going to support local math, science and technology education. The 2011 Awards program generated over $12,500 for the <a href="http://www.ortop.org/">Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program</a> (ORTOP).</p>

<p>Introduced this year, the Catalyst award recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit in Oregon and those individuals and/or organizations that have provided an extra ingredient to propel start-up and emerging-growth companies. <strong>Diane Fraiman</strong> of <a href="http://www.voyagercapital.com/"><strong>Voyager Capital</strong></a> and <strong>Nitin Khanna</strong> of <a href="http://www.mergertech.com/"><strong>MergerTech</strong></a>, private investor in tech startups, were this year’s recipients.</p>
<p><strong>Dr. Don Kania</strong>, President and Chief Executive Officer of <a href="http://www.fei.com/"><strong>FEI Company</strong></a>, was honored as the Executive of the Year and <strong>Kirby Dyess</strong>, Principal of <strong>Austin Capital Management</strong>, was named the first woman recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award. The Technology Executive of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are selected by a committee of previous recipients and members of the Oregon technology community provide the nominations.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;" align="center"><strong>Portland OR</strong>–Today TechAmerica announced <strong>Diane Fraiman</strong> and <strong>Nitin Khanna</strong> as the inaugural recipients of the newest Oregon Technology Awards category, the Catalyst Award. This award recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit in Oregon and those individuals and/or organizations that have provided an extra ingredient to propel start-up and emerging-growth companies. Those nominated for the Catalyst Award included individuals and organizations and were generated from the technology community at large.  The awards will be presented at this year’s Oregon Technology Awards ceremony to be held at the Portland Art Museum on May 9, 2012.</p>
<p>“Encouraging emerging technology companies is critical to our growth as an industry and the Catalyst Award is a great way for us to recognize significant contributions of those that help provide the spark for  the next generation of our industry in Oregon and SW Washington, ” said Kari Naone, TechAmerica’s Interim Regional Vice President for Oregon. “The environment that Diane and Nitin have helped create will serve to spur more investment and growth within the industry and we be couldn’t be more thrilled to honor their tremendous contributions with the inaugural Catalyst Award.”</p>
<p><strong>Diane Fraiman</strong> is with<a href="http://www.voyagercapital.com/"> Voyager Capital</a>, the most active venture capital in the state. Diane and the Voyager team met with over 110 companies in 2011 both in reviewing opportunities for Voyager investment as well as supporting them in any capacity that provides advice and mentorship. Voyager has been investing in Oregon-based companies since 1999, and was able to dramatically accelerate their pace with the addition of Ms. Fraiman in 2008.  Voyager investments include <a href="http://www.kryptiq.com">Kryptiq</a>, <a href="http://www.elementaltechnologies.com">Elemental Technologies</a>, <a href="http://www.aboutus.com/">AboutUs</a>, <a href="https://geoloqi.com/">Geoloqi</a>, <a href="http://chirpify.com/">Chirpify</a> and <a href="http://www.actonsoftware.com/">Act-On Software</a>. <p><strong>Nitin Khanna</strong> has been instrumental to tech startups in the region by investing in a number of startups and brokering some of the biggest tech startup acquisitions in Oregon. Mr. Khanna also serves as a mentor providing valuable information and sharing his experiences with the new generation of entrepreneurs. His investments have a strong focus on revenue generation with a goal of forming companies into targets for acquisition. <p style="text-align: left;" align="center"><strong>Portland, OR</strong>–Today TechAmerica announced the finalists for the 2012 Oregon Technology Awards, which were selected from an ever-increasing pool of outstanding nominees.  Awards are presented in categories including System/Hardware, Software, Tech-Service, Rising Star and Cool Product. Winners will be revealed during a spectacular event on May 9, 2012, at the Portland Art Museum.</p>
<p>The evening will also include the presentation of the Technology Executive of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Recipient. The Technology Executive of the Year was awarded to Dr. Don Kania, President and Chief Executive Officer of FEI Company. The Lifetime Achievement Recipient is Ms. Kirby Dyess, Principal of Austin Capital Management.</p>
<p>This annual Oregon business event recognizes excellence and achievement in the region’s technology industry. It also provides an opportunity to invest in Oregon’s future innovators with proceeds from the evening event going to support math, science and technology education. Last year’s event raised more that $12,500 for the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP).</p>
<p>“Not only do this year’s nominees cover a diverse range of technology sectors, but the caliber of the companies is a true testament to the quality of Oregon’s technology industry,” said Kari Naone, TechAmerica’s Interim Regional Vice President for Oregon. “I’m continuously impressed with the Oregon Technology Award nominees, and this year is no exception.”</p>

<p>Portland, OR &#8211; February 10, 2012 &#8211; TechAmerica Oregon announced today the selection of Dr. Don Kania, President and Chief Executive Officer of FEI Company, as the 2012 Technology Executive of the Year and Ms. Kirby Dyess, Principal of Austin Capital Management, with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Both awards will be presented at this year’s Oregon Technology Awards ceremony to be held at the Portland Art Museum on May 9, 2012.</p>
<p>“Both Don and Kirby represent the best of the Oregon tech community,” said Kari Naone, TechAmerica’s interim Regional Vice President for Oregon. “We are thrilled to be able to honor their outstanding contribution to our community and the industry as a whole at our spectacular event.”</p>
<p>The Oregon Technology Executive of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards are chosen by a selection committee comprised of the program’s previous Technology Executive of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. Nominations are generated by the committee and from the technology community at large.</p>
<p>Dr. Don Kania has been FEI’s President and Chief Executive Officer since 2006. He has expanded FEI solutions in traditional markets of materials science and semiconductors into new industries worldwide, such as natural resources (including oil and mining operations) and life sciences. FEI is a leading diversified scientific instruments company, featuring electron and ion-beam microscopes and other instruments for nanoscale applications across many industries.</p>
<p>“I am proud to represent all of FEI’s employees around the globe in receiving this important recognition from TechAmerica,” said Dr. Kania. </p>
<p>Kirby Dyess is the first woman awarded the TechAmerica Lifetime Achievement Award. </p>
<p>When informed of her selection Ms. Dyess noted, “I am truly honored and humbled by the selection.  I have been blessed to have worked for and with some of the greatest leaders who always pushed me beyond what I thought I could do and taught me so very much, and a family who always encouraged me to take some risks. I thank TechAmerica for the award and the selection committee for their consideration and support.”    </p>
<p>In 2003, Ms. Dyess formed, and is currently the Principal of Austin Capital Management LLC, where she evaluates, invests in, and assists early stage companies. Previously, Ms. Dyess worked for Intel Corporation for 23 years, where she held a variety of positions including Vice President and Director of Human Resources, Vice President and Director of New Business Development, and Director of Operations for Intel Capital. Currently Kirby severs on the board of directors of three public companies, Chairs the board of Prolifiq SW Inc. and serves as a director for Compli, both privately owned companies.  </p>

<p>PORTLAND, Ore. – May 20, 2011 – TechAmerica Oregon announced its 2011 Oregon Technology Award winners in a ceremony held last night at the Portland Art Museum. The winners represent the year’s top Oregon and Southwest Washington-area technology companies in four categories: System/Hardware, Software, Technology-Service and Rising Star, as well as the Cool Product of the Year, which was selected via live voting at the event.</p>
<p>“We received many compelling applications this year from a wide range of innovative local technology companies that we’re fortunate to have in our region,” said Jennifer Bosze, Regional Vice President of TechAmerica Oregon. “The selection committees had a difficult job choosing only a handful of these companies to be recognized, and we thank them for their assistance as well as the event sponsors and volunteers whose continued support makes it possible for us to hold this event year after year.”</p>
<p>The annual Oregon Technology Awards program, now in its third year managed by TechAmerica Oregon, celebrates excellence and achievement in the region’s technology industry. This year’s celebratory event provided sponsors and attendees an opportunity to invest in Oregon’s future innovators with proceeds going to support local math, science and technology education. The 2010 Awards program generated over $12,500 for the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP), and nearly$2,000 for Chess for Success.</p>

<p>The Cool Product of the Year was decided upon last night via a live vote. Event attendees used their mobile devices to select one of three finalist products as the winner. Results were tabulated and announced in real-time. The winner of this award is:</p>

<p><strong>Gregory K. Hinckley</strong>, President of <strong>Mentor Graphics</strong>, was also honored as the Executive of the Year, and the <strong>Richard “Dick” I. Knight</strong>, former Tektronix executive, the Lifetime Achievement recipient. A selection committee made up of the program’s previous Technology Executive of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award recipients chose these winners from a group of nominees that came in from committee members as well as the greater technology community.</p>
<p>The Oregon Technology Awards Program is produced by TechAmerica Oregon and supported by various generous financial and in-kind sponsors.
