About the Awards Program
This premier event celebrates excellence and achievement in the region’s technology industry and honors one outstanding Technology Executive of the Year. In addition, five individual industry segment and product awards will be presented during the evening, recognizing recipients for their accomplishments, leadership and commitment to the community and industry. James B. Johnson, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Portland, Tripwire®, will be honored as the 2010 Technology Executive of the Year.
As we celebrate our industry, the night will also provide an opportunity to invest in our future innovators with proceeds from the evening going to support math and science education. The 2009 TechAwards program generated over $12,500 for the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP).
History
The program was established in 1984 by the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America when the first High Technology Good Scout Award was presented to Douglas C. Strain of Electro Scientific Industries. In 1987, the award was renamed the Technology Executive of the Year Award and in 2007 TechAmerica Oregon assumed leadership of this Oregon Technology Industry tradition.
